A joint venture of Fluor Heavy Civil and Irving, Texas-based Austin Bridge & Road has been given permission to proceed on an expansion and reconstruction of about 6.3 miles of Interstate 35 East in Dallas under a $641.7 million design-build contract awarded by the Texas Department of Transportation. The Lone Star Constructors venture will expand the roadway to eight lanes, rebuild two existing reversible lanes and rebuild continuous frontage roads, as well as improve intersections.

U.S. companies should prepare for a renewed push for range of new or higher corporate taxes from President Biden’s administration based on the $5.8 trillion fiscal year 2023 budget proposed this week, tax experts say. It comes as the $2 trillion Build Back Better Act passed by the House in November is stalled in the Senate, having failed to gain the unanimous support from Democratic lawmakers needed for passage. If passed it would raise numerous business taxes and yield more complicated tax compliance, especially for businesses that operate globally.
