A $4.5 billion effort to widen a stretch of Interstate 35 that runs through Austin, Texas, would be significantly modified under several recent proposals, according to a letter from the mayor to proponents of a more limited expansion. The proposals include a cap over part of the highway, filtering for stormwater runoff and a boardwalk on Lady Bird Lake. - KUT-FM

This is an instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrive. Skills covered in this course include first aid for sudden illnesses, injuries and protection from blood-borne pathogens, choking relief and sudden cardiac arrest for adults. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety course is intended for supervisors or for workers with some safety responsibility. It provides a greater depth and variety of training on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards than the TEXO Safety First class. Topics include recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards found in the workplace.

Course topics include hazards associated with scaffold design, assembly, disassembly and use, types of scaffolds, determining scaffold capacity, employee qualifications and training, maintenance, repair, and inspection requirements. Upon course completion students will have the ability to identify the types of scaffolds and their components, determine safe assembly, use and disassembly and recognize common violations of OSHA Standards.

The focus of this one-day seminar is the effective implementation of a company's safety and health management system.
