The construction industry added 9,000 jobs on net in April, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On a year-over-year basis, industry employment has increased by 258,000 jobs, an increase of 3.2%.
 
Nonresidential construction employment increased by 7,800 positions on net, with growth registered in all three major subcategories. Nonresidential specialty trade added the most jobs, growing by 6,600 positions. Nonresidential building and heavy and civil engineering added 900 and 300 jobs, respectively. - ABC National

The TEXO OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program provides general awareness for entry or field-level construction workers. The training program covers recognizing, mitigating, and preventing hazards on a construction site. We have incorporated a virtual reality component to enhance the participants' engagement and connection to the material.

This is an instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid for sudden illnesses, injuries and protection from blood-borne pathogens; choking relief and sudden cardiac arrest for adults. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

This course covers the OSHA Excavation Standards and safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching. Course topics include practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations, introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic), soil classification, and use of protective systems. Testing methods are demonstrated and students participate in workshops in the use of instruments such as penetrometers, Torvane shears and engineering rods.

This course is intended for individuals that will be performing any duties on construction projects and jobsites. The course will assist them in better understanding the importance of noticing and preventing heat stress symptoms. Upon completion of this course, participants will have: an understanding of the sign and symptoms of heat-related disorders, predisposing conditions, likely causes, prevention and first-aid, in order to provide guidance and training to employees, as well as the ability to audit compliance with the HIPP.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety course is intended for supervisors or for workers with some safety responsibility. It provides a greater depth and variety of training on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards than the TEXO Safety First class. Topics include recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards found in the workplace.
