Application Requirements for the CMP-HC Certification Streamlined

Are you in the healthcare sector and thinking about obtaining your CMP-Healthcare (HC) certification? Applying for the CMP-HC may not be as difficult as you think. The requirement for healthcare specific continuing education (CE) hours needed to apply for the CMP-HC has changed from 15 to five. This change was made with the understanding that you are already accumulating CEs to recertify your CMP and thus the additional hours are sufficient to ensure that you are staying current in this subspecialty field as well.   

Those seeking the CMP-HC certification must already have a CMP, and accumulating CEs demonstrates mastery of general knowledge for managing a meeting or event. Only those who already work in the healthcare meeting field and submit the additional required CEs specific to healthcare meetings can apply for the CMP-HC exam.

Continuing education activities related specifically to managing healthcare and life science meetings is growing. CIC, as well as a some of our member organizations such as Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA), have worked with healthcare meeting professionals to create continuing education activities that can be used toward the CMP-HC application.
