A Special CMP Thank You

As
I look back over the past year, I can honestly say it has been an eventful one.
Many changes and transitions have occurred—the most prominent, of course, being
the transition from CIC to the Events Industry Council.
Truly exciting is the fact that the CMP designation itself continues to
grow—evidenced by the fact that we added 862 new CMPs this year.
And I finally stopped procrastinating and recertified!
This industry continues to see a growing volume of merger and acquisition activity, and many of our colleagues continue to reinvent themselves. Of course, we have experienced our share of tragedies and successes.
Overall, I am proud to say that we are a resilient group. I have been inspired by all of you this year and I offer my sincere thanks for allowing me the opportunity to serve. It has been humbling and rewarding. I very much appreciate all that you have done for the CMP community. We are strong, and as stressed as we all get sometimes, we simply keep on trucking! Do you ever wonder what’s wrong with us? I’ve given up trying to figure it out. It’s like dealing with a teenager ... what’s the point?
I’m excited to see Erin Tench, CMP, CMM, as the incoming Chair of the CMP Governance Commission. She brings exceptional leadership skills to the table, which will be so valuable to our CMP community. I also want to thank all of the CMP Governance Commission members with whom I have had the privilege to serve this past year. Their commitment, passion and energy is beyond exceptional. I also would like to congratulate and welcome the five new commission members—each of whom brings a wide range of skills and new eyes to our ever-changing landscape.
I hope you all had wonderful holidays, and I wish you a happy, healthy and safe 2018.
Yours in Service,
Matt DiSalvo, CMP
