People are inspired by many different things whether it’s a person, place or thing. I have had the opportunity in the past week to be inspired by all three while participating in the CMP Governance Commission fall meeting and the CMP Conclave in Birmingham, Ala.

I am constantly inspired by the dedication and volunteerism of the professionals in our industry. This was the final meeting of our CMP commission for the year. Although a few people were unable to make the trip, they still participated virtually in the full day meeting. The dedication of these individuals to contribute to the future of the CMP is motivating. For those who I met in person, networking with other CMPs and other industry professionals always gives me energy to strive to be a better professional and look to a positive future. 

One of the most impactful experiences of participating in the CMP Conclave is visiting the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Fellow CMP Commission member, Steve Lorenz, said it best, "Overwhelmed by the history, lives and individual stories contained here. Wish I had more time to explore all of the exhibits more in depth." For future visitors, please be sure to allocate enough time. Thank you, Birmingham, for your inspiration and impact.

The CMP Conclave 2018 theme was Contribute – Inspire – Elevate. Conclave is the only event created exclusively for CMPs. It is an opportunity to gain insight on unique perspectives and experiences throughout the industry while gaining continuing education credits and networking with fellow CMPs. Industry education and networking are always inspiring and push each of us to be a more informed professional.
