IMEX America 2018 has concluded, and as expected, it was a smashing success with so many opportunities to connect, build your business and network in this amazing industry.
There were wonderful and exciting options to choose from whether it be continuous education courses that build and improve your business to creating numerous new experiences and memories which are always a big ROI at IMEX.
This year’s IMEX had so many highlights, but for me it was all about discovery, new relationships, and the opportunity to share my talents with others as I’m starting my new business.
The MPI CMM/CMP breakfast is always a favorite. We were treated with the gifted and talented songwriter and performer Kelley Lovelace, who shared his journey to the top with songs, stories and several laughs in-between. He connected the group at 7:00 a.m. like no one else could.
Another favorite of mine that, once again, rose to the occasion was The Event Industry Council "Hall of Leaders & Pacesetter Awards Celebration." Several industry icons — Corbin Ball, Henry Givray, Edward Lui and Deborah Sexton, as well Jeff Chase, Zena Phillips and Jessie States — were recognised for their talent and contributions to our industry. All of the speeches were filled with passion, a few tears and an understanding of why we are so committed to this dynamic and prosperous industry.
Education was on point for IMEX and there were so many opportunities to learn from the multiple General Sessions, breakouts and all of the educational options on the show floor. I really enjoyed the concentration that the council took to provide information and knowledge regarding several prominent and relevant topics from cyber security and human trafficking, to unconscious bias and risk management protocol. The presentations were thorough and conversational and definitely worth your precious time.
Networking was at an all-time high, and once again I had to carefully choose which breakfast, lunch and dinner dates I should go to because there were so many options. In the end, Uber and LYFT were happy; my feet not so much. I was also fascinated on how the various hotels and venues rallied to showcase their amenities with grander and style, and how well the city of Las Vegas handled the event, with a concentration on keeping us safe while producing the natural enjoyment that Las Vegas and IMEX produces.
IMEX is an adventure for the adventurous and you always come away with so many new memories and experiences, and unfortunately sometimes a few headaches, blisters and an exhausted body.
GREAT JOB IMEX 2018! I’m already looking forward to September 2019 and a whole new adventure!
