Greetings to all our avid CMP Today readers,
Over the coming months, the team behind CMP Today will be implementing some updates to our publication, which you will see rolled out over the next few issues.
Our latest issue marks the start of monthly themed content and, with 1 March marking Zero Discrimination Day, with the very apt theme of this issue is diversity, equity and inclusion.
As you know, the Events Industry Council’s Equity Taskforce has developed its Equity Acceleration Plan, which will enable us to develop tools, training resources and insights for our partners and the global business events industry. As part of our first phase, we launched our Equity Study, and we are using the results of this to establish a benchmark to understand the attitudes of our sectors’ professionals toward diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace and as a baseline to measure the impact of our Acceleration Plan and future progress over time.
We have been working closely with the CultureLytics team and the Equity Taskforce to review the results of the study, and we hope to release the full report in the coming months. We will also be using this data to create a series of specially created educational courses, tools and resources to support the industry in its shared goal of a more diverse and inclusive future.
On 23 March, we will be hosting our Accelerating Equity in the Events Industry workshop as part of our Business Events Industry Week activities. As part of this, we will share some of early results from the Equity Study and you'll have the opportunity to participate in discussions on the development of tools, resources and recommendations to turn our vision to action and lead the challenge against discrimination and systemic racism in the events industry. The workshop will take place in-person at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland and online via Zoom Webinar. You can find out more information and register for a space here.
I am excited to share the full results of this survey with you all and to build out our resources to support the industry in becoming more inclusive. I hope you enjoy this edition of CMP Today.
Warmest Regards,
Amy Calvert, CEO
