Fostering human connection, celebrating global talent and promoting individual professional development and the building of capabilities are key tenets of EIC’s mission – and I’m proud that our time at IMEX America this month truly showcased our values and our priorities through the pillars of People Planet and Purpose.

On behalf of the EIC Board and Council, we again congratulate all recipients of this year’s EIC Global Awards, which we celebrated with many of you during IMEX. I’m also delighted to welcome this year’s Hall of Leaders inductees, who undoubtedly continue to shape the industry with their inspiring achievements and commitment. These awards honour the achievements and dedication of our peers.

As part of our focus on achieving a more equitable future for all those working within our industry, IMEX America was our platform to launch the Executive Summary of our 2022 EIC Equity Benchmarking Study, created in partnership with our global Equity Task Force. The report, which can be read in full here, is the first phase of our Equity Acceleration Plan, and underscores the fact that as an industry, we have a significant way to go, particularly in advancing ethnic diversity, gender inclusivity and equity in leadership and influential positions.

We are extremely grateful to all those who contributed to our study; without these honest anecdotes, we will not be able to understand the true magnitude of this issue and use that understanding to educate and provide resources for our members and the wider industry in order to drive meaningful change and a better future for all.

The next stage in this ambitious project includes a leadership workshop to review the Benchmarking Study, and shape resources and deliverables for the benefit of our members.

In alignment with our vision and purpose, the Events Industry Council has launched a Corporate Membership Programme that expands our community and provides an exclusive opportunity to enhance your organisation’s reach, knowledge, and connections. This membership offers a range of benefits designed to support and inspire our workforce and advance our sector through collaboration.

Reconnecting in person with industry professionals at global events is vital, especially during a period of macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical unease. As we look ahead to the final months of 2022, there are still many valuable networking opportunities for those looking to enhance their reach, knowledge and impact among like-minded individuals. The next event on our calendar is IBTM World in Barcelona, and I look forward to connecting with you there.

Warmest Regards,

Amy Calvert, CEO, Events Industry Council
