While the end of summer is bittersweet, there’s really something wonderful about the fall.
There’s a lot going on. While I’m on the coast of sunny California, many of my colleagues across the globe will soon start to feel a cool breeze in the air. Kids are going back to school, we’re gearing up for the holidays—the final cap on another year—and it’s all very exciting.
Fall also means the Events Industry Council is getting ready for two amazing events— IMEX America in September and CMP Conclave in November. These two premier events highlight some of the wonderful individuals that make up our organisation and also give attendees a unique insight into the trends impacting the industry today.

Each year, the Events Industry Council honours a dynamic and inspirational group of professionals for their passion, innovation and dedication to the global events industry. These individuals are nominated and determined by a selection committee for their legacy impact.
The Hall of Leaders is a lifetime achievement award that recognises the outstanding contributions a person has made during their career. This year, we welcome six new inductees including a former archeologist, an intrepid reporter and the man who popularised single bathrooms in hotel rooms.
The Pacesetter Award also highlights the exemplary things individuals have done, but focuses on those up-and-coming in their careers. These people have shown innovation, impact and vision in their careers, and their work has made the industry a better place.

Be sure to join us 15–17 November for CMP Conclave. Renew yourself personally and professionally amid the picturesque backdrop of Colorado Springs at The Broadmoor. This educational and networking opportunity is the premier event for CMPs across the globe. Gain continuing education (CE) hours while connecting with peers in an intimate environment ideal for quality relationship building and idea exchange. Registration is expected to open soon.

IMEX America is almost here! The event, which takes place 10–12 September in Las Vegas, is a chance for professionals from around the world to learn and connect with one another. Also at the event, the Events Industry Council will present its Hall of Leaders inductees and Pacesetter awardees, as well as host a celebration afterward.
Induction into the Hall of Leaders is considered the industry’s highest honour, recognising excellence, career achievement and inspiration in the events industry. The Pacesetter award salutes emerging leaders and those who are making a difference in today’s marketplace. To register for the celebration, please visit our website.
Already planning to attend? Make sure you stop by the EIC booth (84628) to attend one of our education sessions and to view our sustainably-designed space!

Our voices matter. Our recent Global Economic Significance Study shows our impact on the economy, on jobs and our tremendous reach. It is time for us to unify and leverage this passion and strength. We must come together to secure a long-term, sustainable and resilient future for our industry, our communities and those we serve.
To take these big, bold strides needed for a future-fit, sustainable industry we need to assess where we are today. The State of Sustainability annual survey will help us understand key elements for advancing sustainability by identifying:
- Practices meeting professionals are incorporating and prioritising for their events
- Marketplace communication barriers preventing achievement of sustainability goals
- Factors holistically contributing to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals
- Actions our workforce is collectively taking on social justice issues, including human trafficking
- Ways our industry is supporting a diverse, inclusive and welcoming environment for all
The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Results will be presented at IMEX America in September 2019. We appreciate your participation, as it will help us identify trends and opportunities to drive meaningful change in the events industry.
