In a rapidly changing world that places sustainability and net zero strategies at the core of businesses, it is essential for all sectors, including the meetings and events industry. Therefore, this new 2030 Strategy represents a pathway to focus on people, planet and prosperity, create purposeful outcomes, and accelerate the contribution of a shift toward a regenerative economy.
In late 2020, the strategy team composed of members of the Centre for Sustainability and Social Impact committee took on the task of creating strategies for implementation for the CSSI.

To think and plan circularly means you are considering all aspects of a system, whether for a product, service, or whole event. Thinking circularly involves a mindset shift.
Often in the events sector and beyond, we have had a tendency to focus on what is termed “waste management” or “waste reduction”. Circular thinking starts at the opposite end of the spectrum, with a focus on reducing what is going into the system in the first place, considering how it will be used, and ensuring it remains in the system after use i.e “closing the loop”.

Number of years as a CMP? 15
Where did you grow up? Several places around the Pittsburgh, PA area and a few years in Gettysburg, PA. I’m a Pennsylvania girl!
What did you want to (or think you’d) be when you grew up? I thought I might want to be a child psychologist. I loved the idea of helping children, and analysing people is something I am still interested in.
