I’ve just returned from our annual EIC Board Retreat, held this year in San Diego in conjunction with PCMA Convening Leaders 2024. Congratulations to the PCMA team, Visit San Diego and the entire hospitality community for an incredible event showcasing one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
During our Board Retreat, we toasted our new Chair Ana María Viscasillas, MBA, CDME, DES, CED and welcomed new members Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE and Elizabeth Niehaus, along with Bob Gilbert, who returns to the board after a few years.

Loretta had considered becoming a teacher, a veterinarian or even a lawyer, she says, but “Suddenly, I just knew that was my career path. That was over 30 years ago, and I still love my chosen field.” She worked in hotels for over a decade before entering the world of CVBs. Now, she works as the national sales manager at Visit Raleigh. “18 years later, I can truthfully say I made a good choice!”

EIC Is now accepting applications for the 2023 Class of CMP Fellows. Launched in 2021, the CMP Fellows programme recognizes and rewards CMPs and or Emeritus who continue to make a significant investment toward the betterment of the events industry and the community. Applications are due 31 January 2024.

EIC is hosting office hours with Director of Certification Gus Chijioke on a regular basis for those who are beginning the CMP journey, who are ready to sit for the exam, are currently a CMP with general questions, or if you have questions on the Sustainable Event Professional Certificate programme. The next office hours will be held on 13 February 12 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada). After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
