As part of the 2013 Conclave's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, the CMP Board of Directors and other attendees volunteered their time at Transitions, an organization working to assist women and children in need. Additionally, CMPs donated toiletries and much needed towels to the organization. Your contributions, along with a generous donation of 200 gently used towels from the Davenport, were very much appreciated. Transitions Development Director Mary M. Tracey shares the impact of those donations.

The Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is proud to announce the appointment of Michelle Bland to its board of directors. The new members will join the existing board of directors to guide the affiliate in fulfilling its mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever. Michelle Bland, CMP, is a breast cancer survivor and has been an active year-round volunteer for Komen Maryland since 2010. In 2010, she received the Maryland Affiliate "Survivor Award." She is currently the Associate Director of Sales at the Sheraton Annapolis Hotel, and she has nearly 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, mostly in sales. "We are thrilled to welcome these six women to the board of directors," said Robin Prothro, CEO of Komen Maryland. "I look forward to the guidance, passion and commitment our 13 member board will bring to the organization as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Komen Maryland and look towards the future of breast health in the Maryland community." Douwes, CMP, CMM, is now the Manager, Ambassador Program Event Services, two new departments created by Meetings Conventions Calgary. She will also be the Immediate Past President, MPI Greater Calgary Chapter 2013-2014. Zena Hawes, CMP, has been promoted to Director of Catering & Events at Conrad Miami in Miami, Florida.
