Submitted by Center for Energy & Environments (CEE)
CEE is looking for contractors to host trainees for an internship as part of Center for Energy and Environment's (CEE) Xcel Energy funded and Ramsey County funded workforce training program.
This training program aims to provide career opportunities in residential HVAC, insulation, and electrical pathways to individuals who are historically underrepresented in the industry. Since 2022, CEE has delivered workforce training to over 100 people and has proven success in preparing graduates to work in energy efficiency.
Prior to starting the internship, trainees will have received 45-hours of classroom training and 40-hours of hands-on training in HVAC and insulation work. During the hands-on training, trainees will frame, build, and dense pack a wall section. They also visit the St. Paul Pipefitter’s training center, gain experience in Saint Paul College’s sheet metal lab, and learn about refrigeration charge in Minneapolis Community & Technical College’s HVAC lab.
