2011 Session Recap

This year’s Florida Legislative Session wasn’t without challenges, but all in all the apartment industry fared well.  While our sponsored bill, Writ of Possession/Expedited Evictions, did not pass, it did encourage many sheriffs departments to review their writ handling procedures.  In Miami-Dade County we’ve received reports that Writ postings have sped up by more than a week.

Better yet, we successfully added language to a bill strengthening our Fire Alarm Retrofit exemption law that was passed last year.  For more information and a recap from our contract lobbyist please click here.
