Charity Challenge Call for Volunteers
Play for the FAA PSC-Team!
It’s hot, it’s sweaty, it’s noisy—and a ton of fun. It’s the annual Charity Challenge in Orlando, and we need you to play for the FAA Product Service Council team!
A few hundred volunteers from dozens of multifamily and hospitality industry companies will gather in colorful panoply on the green fields of the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Teams will have their own tents and team T-shirts, and gather in intense conversation to set strategy and assign participants to the different events. The events include canoe races, basketball, an obstacle course, volleyball, tug-of-war and other games. For more than 25 years now, former State Senator Lee Constantine has sponsored Charity Challege as a way to support Central Florida’s many charitable organizations. In all, more than $4 million has been raised for charity via this event, which has grown every year. Last year, 88 teams competed, with 32 teams coming from the apartment industry from companies such as Concord, Epoch, ContraVest, Smith Equities, Picerne, Wilson Company, McKinley, Apartment Guide, For Rent, Coastal Reconstruction, HD Supply and many more. Monies collected will be sent to a charity of our choice.
Melisa Richie (formerly Neuberg) of For Rent Media Solutions is putting together the FAA Product Service Council Team for the event on May 21. Many members will participate with their company teams, but we need players from both suppliers and property management to compete on behalf of the state association. Players and teams come from all over the state, so you don’t have to live in Orlando to play. It’s a great way to support worthy causes and challenge your peers for supremacy in the different events. Lori Krull of Greystar still boasts of beating Mark Smith’s team in tug-of-war two years ago. It’s field day for adults, but with beer.
Please contact Melisa at melisa.richie@forrent.com to help her build a team. Any member is welcome and Melisa will be eternally grateful.
