A big THANK YOU to Gordon Watts from US Vinyl Fence for sponsoring the Rocky Mountain Top Golf outing. A wonderful time was had by all, and it was a great day for golfing despite all the thunderstorms, thanks to a roof over the tee box! Trevor had the high score, followed by McKay in second place, and Donnie in third. Stay tuned for details on next year’s Top Golf Outing schedule, as well as potential involvement opportunities for chapter members at FENCETECH 2020.

Thank you to all who attended the Texas Fence Association’s March Quarterly Meeting at the lovely Lakeway Resort and Spa. It was a fun meeting with great food, music and lots of celebrating the chapter’s recent “Chapter of the Year” AND “Scrapbook of the Year” awards. Now it's time to celebrate the great TFA Chapter turning the big 3-0 at the Summer Quarterly Meeting, June 28-30, 2019 at Hilton Americas – Houston. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the CAGOI, CAGSD, CFP and CFC exams on Saturday morning. For more information about the meeting, and to sign up for exams, visit www.texasfenceassociation.org/past-meetings/summer-2019-meeting.

This spring, the Midwest Chapter hosted its first annual Clay Shooting event in Belle Plaine, KS, to great acclaim. There were many first-time attendees, as well as a special appearance by AFA Executive Director Tony Thornton, who was the guest speaker during the chapter meeting. Barry Baker had the best score among all shooters, with 34 out of 50 targets hit on a windy afternoon. Next year, the Midwest Chapter has plans to grow the clay shoot into a 2-day event, with even more attendees.

November may seem a long way in the distance, but it’s not too soon to start making plans for Fence Contractor Business School at AFA University. The 2nd FCBS will take place November 3 – 9, 2019 in Arlington, Texas. Attendees will learn the business side of being a Fence Contractor. Topics covered in the week-long school are:
• Marketing, Advertising and Sales • Estimating and Bidding • Insurance and Legal Issues • Basics of Accounting and Corporate Structure • OSHA Compliance and Safety Management • UL 325 and ASTM F2200
All classes are taught by experienced and industry veteran instructors with expertise in their assigned classes. Attendance is limited, so all students are assured the attention they need to leave with the valuable information they need for success as a fence contractor.
