The AFA Florida Chapter will host an Automated Gate System Designer Class on September 12-13, 2019 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, FL. Special room rates at the Rosen can be found by clicking here. The deadline to reserve is August 13, 2019.
We will also be hosting our 2nd Annual Golf Outing immediately following the AGSD class, on Saturday, September 14, 2019. Sponsorship opportunities are available and can be found here. The Northern Ohio AFA chapter had a great dinner cruise on the Nautica Queen Cruise Dining Ship in June. They also held a brief meeting, where they focused on the upcoming September 6th clay shoot, as well as their community project taking place this fall. AWARDS SEASON IS AROUND THE CORNER
NOMINATE DESERVING INDIVIDUALS AND PROJECTS
The AFA recognizes its members for the outstanding work you do in the field, in the community and as volunteers of the association through the AFA PRO and Association Awards. The AFA PRO Awards recognize AFA members who have created and installed outstanding fence projects in the last year. Multiple nominations for commercial and residential projects are encouraged in the following categories as long as nominees meet eligibility requirements: multi-use (combination of 2 or more categories), access control, chain link, deck/rail, farm/ranch/agriculture, ornamental, wood, and vinyl. From all winning commercial and residential entries, a Project of the Year Award will be given to the most outstanding work. The AFA Association Awards recognize AFA members for their service and dedication to the industry, in the community, and as a volunteer with the association. Nominations for multiple awards are welcome as long as eligibility criteria are met. Consider nominating a colleague for one of the following AFA Association Awards: Ambassador, Contractor of the Year, Distinguished Service, Hall of Fame, Manufacturer of the Year, and the newest award, Outstanding Service. Full details for each award are listed on our website. Awards will be presented at the Awards Dinner at FENCETECH 2020 in Salt Lake City. Online registration is live for the 2019 AFA University. There will be three schools offered this year: Operator Installer School, Fence Installation School and Fence Contractor Business School. All three schools will be conducted November 3 – 9, 2019 in Arlington, Texas.
AFA offices have received a higher than usual number of inquiries about the schools in recent weeks and attendance is expected to be full in all three schools. We recommend registering as soon as possible to guarantee your place in AFA’s premier hands-on, educational opportunity.

AFA is seeking your help in bringing a dynamic and timely series of education seminars to next year’s FENCETECH in Salt Lake City. Submit a seminar topic that you would like to present, either individually, or with additional presenters. AFA is seeking a wide array of topics that are innovative, engaging, inspiring, and informative for fence and deck contractors across the USA. Conference attendees are interested in hearing the latest trends, installation techniques, and best practices from industry experts and peers. The deadline to submit is Friday, July 26, 2019. All completed submissions will be peer-reviewed and the AFA 2020 educational program will be announced no later than August 30, 2019.
