RWI Transportation Selected as a Top Green Provider by Food Logistics Magazine RWI Transportation, an asset-based logistics company providing regional and national truckload, LTL, expedited and refrigerated warehousing services, announced they were selected by Food Logistics magazine as a Top Green Provider for 2012. The Top Green Providers list was created by Food Logistics magazine to recognize companies in the food and beverage sector that have embraced sustainability practices as central to their operations. In turn, they play a key role in their customers’ own sustainability efforts while simultaneously helping to advance awareness throughout the supply chain community. "RWI Transportation, a Smartway Transport Partner, has established unique initiatives to protect the environment while maintaining the integrity of its primarily temperature-controlled, perishable shipments," said Richard Bauer, executive vice president and general manager of RWI Transportation. "Our efforts include reducing fuel usage and emissions through equipment, training and mode selection." Managing in excess of 100,000 shipments annually, RWI handles temperature-controlled and dry freight, and also has specialized expertise in handling fresh produce and other perishable food commodities. RWI is an affiliate of the Castellini Group of Companies, which combines to form one of the largest distributors of fresh produce in the United States.
