On November 14, the Hon. Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, delivered the Speech from the Throne.
The speech included important information on PEI’s Carbon Plan strategy. The provincial government plans to work with federal and provincial counterparts to draft a Carbon Mitigation Strategy and a Carbon Adaptation Plan in early 2018. They say their approach to climate change and carbon pricing will respect the economic context and realities of the province while being consistent with their pledge to further lower per capita emissions. While their plan aims to be mainly centered on electrification, the CPA will be working with the PEI government to ensure that propane is included in their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.
