On December 13, CPA Board Chair Dan Kelly and CPA’s Ontario Director of Government Relations Peter Maddox met with the Ontario Government’s Parliamentary Assistant for Energy and MPP for Ottawa-Vanier, Nathalie Des Rosiers.

The meeting focused on how the expanded use of propane can benefit both the economy and the environment in Ontario. In particular, CPA officials discussed the proposed Rural Propane Retrofit Program and the Green Commercial Vehicle Program. MPP Des Rosiers also had particular interest in the opportunities for propane in Indigenous and remote communities.

In what CPA Board Chair Dan Kelly described as a spirited and informative discussion, the meeting was particularly productive given Ms. Des Rosiers' expressed interest in the issues of concern to CPA members in Ontario.

"We appreciated the opportunity to meet with MPP Des Rosiers and present the benefits that propane can provide in reducing Ontario’s carbon footprint," said Kelly. "As Chair of the Canadian Propane Association Board of Directors, I am very pleased to engage with our legislators to help everyone understand where propane fits in Canada’s energy landscape."

Additional meetings with senior Ontario government officials will be held in the coming days and weeks, including a meeting with the Office of the Premier.
