CPA President & CEO Nathalie St-Pierre presented propane as a viable, low-carbon solution and an essential element in Ontario’s environmental and energy options to Minister of Finance Charles Sousa and MPPs on January 31 as part of their pre-budget consultation process.
The CPA also submitted a Pre-Budget Submission on Ontario’s Propane Sector advocating CPA’s Rural Propane Retrofit Program as a vital component to meeting rural Ontarians’ economic and environmental needs and reducing the province’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The CPA continued to urge the government to include propane in its Green Commercial Vehicle Program, which it has currently excluded. With over 26 million vehicles in service throughout the world and 50,000 in Canada, propane is the first alternative fuel to have a national refuelling network with over 1,800 fuelling stations and 100 conversion centers across the country.
