NB: SUCCESS - Propane expanded into more Energy Efficiency programs

Already available for residential purposes, the CPA is pleased to announce that propane has been added to the Commercial and Industrial sections of the New Brunswick Energy Efficiency program.

NB Energy Efficiency aims to reduce energy consumption in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. Previously, propane had only been included in the residential sector of this program, but after several meetings with government officials, including Environment and Local Government Minister Jeff Carr, Climate Change Program Coordinator Jeff White, Deputy Minister, Climate Change and Indigenous People Lesley Rogers and Senior Manager of Energy Efficient Services for NB Power Beth Pollock, propane has now been expanded to the other sectors.

As the NB government is also looking at developing new programs in conjunction with the federal government’s Green Infrastructure investment fund, such as fuel switching to replace inefficient fuels with cleaner and economical alternatives (e.g., substituting coal or heating oil for propane), the CPA will stay involved in the development of the NB Energy Efficiency programs and advocate for the inclusion of propane.
