Updated emergency planning services available, including rail security plans ERAC has developed a new approach in Environmental Emergency (E2) planning to better serve CPA and ERAC Plan Participant members. ERAC offers a full-service plan: write the plan, submit mandatory schedules to Environment and Climate Change Canada, produce public notification brochures and facilitate annual tabletop training sessions for facility employees. ERAC can also share this work, if you have the time and resources internally to execute some of these requirements; this way, the cost of the plan is reduced accordingly.

Your E2 plan includes modelling using ALOHA (Areal Location of Hazardous Atmospheres), a computer program designed to model chemical releases for emergency planners. ERAC’s in-house geospatial specialists produce maps that identify critical infrastructure, high occupancy, and vulnerable population locations as well as hydrology and environmental receptors. ERAC delivers the plan to you in Word format so that minor changes can easily be made to keep your plan up to date, assuring regulatory compliance.

ERAC’s other emergency response planning services include:

  • audit and gap analysis of emergency response plans – identify missing regulatory items and include suggestions on gap closure in a report
  • rail security plans – a Transport Canada requirement for any rail loading or unloading facility handling dangerous goods
  • tabletops, exercises and drills – plan, facilitate, and produce reports indicating employee strengths and areas for improvement. These can be web-based tabletops or in-person, action-based exercises Contact Don Merriam, Emergency Planning Manager, ERAC, at 514-714-1075 for further information.
