On Thursday, October 22, 2020 Ontario Government Relations Director, Marcelline Riddell, joined over 200 other women and men from around the globe to share information and celebrate the successes of propane industry leaders at the Women in LPG Webinar (WINLPG).
From the first Women in Propane Council Event in Atlanta in 2012, the association has grown to include six global chapters, with more slated to come online in the coming year.
Alison Abbott, WLPGA marketing and communications director, reiterated the group’s goals to support and retain women already in the industry, promote the use of lobbying and advocacy through media and at industry events, and to educate and attract women to the propane profession, at the webinar’s outset.
The event introduced WINLPG board members and chapter chairs and heard from Pam Indurjeeth, of Oryx Oil, South Africa, who was celebrated as woman of the year. Indurjeeth told the group of her rise in the industry from truck scheduler to managing director and thanked her male mentors for their role in her career advancement.
Nigeria’s chapter chair relayed the success of a recent initiative to promote propane’s role in the climate change solution among school children offering demonstration events showcasing its versatility and encouraging them to consider it as “more than just cooking fuel.”
The association continues to expand its chapter network and welcomes new members at any time.
