CPA members and their employees are required to undergo training. The Canada-Manitoba Job Grant may help to offset some of these costs.
The province of Manitoba will invest $8 million to fund the Canada-Manitoba Job Grant. The intent of this program is to help employers offset the costs of training new employees, or costs associated with developing the skills of their existing workers to meet the requirements of their present job or to attain a promotion.
Eligible employers may apply for up to $10,000 per employee to assist with training costs delivered by a third party. Employers with 100 or fewer employees must contribute a minimum of 25 per cent of training costs, and employers with over 100 employees must contribute a minimum of 50 per cent of training costs. Employers can apply for up to a maximum of $100,000 in funding.
Eligible costs include:
- tuition fees;
- textbooks, software and other required materials;
- exam fees; and
- travel costs for the training of individuals in northern and remote communities.
The first intake period of 2021 opened Monday, May 3 and a second intake period will open in August. Eligible employers are invited to submit applications continually as training needs arise.
