On May 28, Nova Scotia launched the public engagement process on the development of the new goals and the new Climate Change Plan for its Sustainable Development Goals Act, passed in fall 2019. The process runs from May 27 to July 26, 2021.
The Act creates a framework to set additional goals in regulations that the government says will advance Nova Scotia’s economic, social, and environmental wellbeing, sets new goals to fight climate change, and commits to a Climate Change Plan for Clean Growth.
Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change is working with the Clean Foundation to coordinate the engagement process, which includes
- public workshops,
- online workshops, and
- online and written submissions.
The CPA has been engaged with the Environment Department since the inception of the Act to ensure propane is included. The CPA will be filling a submission and encourages members to participate in the workshops and to also send their submissions to the government.
