The CPA ran a very active social media campaign during the 2021 federal election. The campaign focused on social media posts for CPA head office use and for members to use in amplifying priority messages as part of public discourse around the vote. The campaign included a social media toolkit for members and both organic (Facebook and Twitter) and paid (Facebook) posts on CPA accounts.

Messaging emphasis was placed on propane as part of the low-carbon solution: affordable, immediate, accessible, clean – and the narrative was focused on people.

CPA Facebook followers and likes doubled during the campaign that ran from August 26 to September 21. With an ad spend of just a little over one thousand dollars on Facebook, the CPA had a total reach of 26,787 users. On Twitter, the CPA reached over 9,000 users, and more than 2,300 people visited the CPA Twitter profile, drawing a 48 per cent increase.

Best performing messages – paid campaign on Facebook

The CPA will continue to use analytics in future social media posts/campaigns to identify the most optimum way to reach target audiences.
