The Conference Board of Canada has released two new studies that provide insight into the supply chain for propane as well as updated market information on the propane industry.
Both studies were cost-shared by the CPA, the Canada Energy Regulator, Natural Resources Canada, and Transport Canada – this is the first time research on the propane industry has been cost-shared co-funded, a testament to the gaining importance of the industry in Canada.
Supply Trains – Security and Resilience in Canada’s Propane Market identifies key issues that can impact the supply chain. The previous rail strike and blockades and now the issue surrounding Enbridge Line 5 identified knowledge gaps and prompted the study. It is hoped that by increasing insight into these areas that energy security and reliability can be improved, and disruptions mitigated.
Canada’s Propane Supply Chain – Reliability and Resilience is a companion piece to the Conference Board’s first study completed for the CPA, Fuelled Up: An Overview and Outlook of Canada’s Propane Market and Industry. This updated report provides supply and demand information for the period 2010-2019 using new and updated data, and new trends in the market as of data available at the end of March 2021.
