The federal government’s $24-million Energy Innovation Program (EIP) in which it funds fuel switching applications, includes propane.
As per the following clarification received by the CPA: “We would consider switching to propane and/or renewable propane eligible for this program so long as it is switching from a higher-carbon fuel or feedstock for focus Area 1 for the industrial processes for the sectors of interest, as per the criteria outlined in the Applicant's guide. The production of renewable propane would be eligible for Focus Area 2.”
Current Clean Fuels and Industrial Fuel Switching funding applications are open until February 2, 2022.
EIP is a Natural Resources Canada initiative designed to help advance clean energy technologies while supporting Canada’s transition to a low-carbon economy. It funds research, development and demonstration projects, and other related scientific activities.
