The CPA’s Allan Murphy and Robert Loenhart attended the 2022 National Propane Gas Association Southeastern Convention & International Propane Expo this week in Nashville, Tennessee. Murphy’s participation on an WLPGA panel on gas heating bans and electrification, focused on the Canadian context.

B.C. and Quebec are banning fossil fuels for some new construction projects. The ON government is being pressured by some municipalities to phase out all gas-fired power generation by 2030.

Canada’s propane industry plays an important role in reducing emissions immediately. Any reduction in energy options for Canadian consumers, particularly related to natural gas, and therefore propane, is detrimental to Canadians.

Murphy and Loenhart also caught up with PERC’s Tucker Perkins, who will be speaking at the CPA Leadership Summit on May 18, in Banff. For more info on the summit.
