On August 10, Allan Murphy, CPA Senior Director of Public Affairs & Policy, attended the unveiling of the Regina Catholic School District’s new fleet of 89 Blue Bird propane-powered school buses. The school district now runs 100 per cent of its school buses on propane, supplied by Canwest Propane, and has the largest fleet of propane buses in Saskatchewan.
The Blue Bird Vision Propane buses emit 80 per cent fewer smog-producing hydrocarbons and virtually eliminate particulate matter when compared with diesel. Along with environmental benefits, the new Blue Bird buses were chosen for their ability to start in cold weather, retain heat in the cabin more effectively, and operate more quietly. Buses fuelled by propane reduce engine noise levels by 11 decibels, or about 50 per cent, compared with diesel-fuelled buses. For more information, visit the
Blue Bird website.
