On July 12, 2017, an amendment entitled Regulations Amending the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR) (International Harmonization Update, 2016) was published in Part II of the Canada Gazette. The amendment is accessible here.
This amendment introduces ambulatory references (also known as "dynamic references") in the TDGR to allow stakeholders to use the most recent versions of certain international codes and safety standards for means of containment. 14 technical standards will be dynamically incorporated in the TDGR. The complete list can be viewed on the Transport Canada website.
There is a 6-month transition period, beginning on July 12, 2017, to comply with the most recent versions of the 14 Canadian General Standards Board and Canadian Standards Association standards that are now dynamically referenced in the TDGR. During this period, you may either comply with the latest version of the standard or with the version that was referenced in the TDGR on the day before the amendment was published. After this period, you must comply with the most recent version.
