The CPA Honours Bob Bush with 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award
The Canadian Propane Association is proud to offer an annual awards program that recognizes exceptional accomplishments in the propane industry and inspires the next generation of industry professionals.
The CPA received a strong group of nominations for 2016. The CPA thanks all those who submitted an application and congratulates all nominates for their outstanding work. The CPA is pleased to announce that it has selected Bob Bush as the recipient of the 2016 CPA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Bob, who has been in the industry for over 34 years, has made significant, outstanding contributions to the propane industry in Canada. Throughout his career, Bob has held senior executive and management positions and was looked upon as a valued mentor and trusted leader by his employees, colleagues and many industry professionals.
Bob has been a long-time advocate, supporter and active participant in the CPA, as well as with the former Propane Gas Association of Canada (PGAC). He was a constant attendee of the Association’s Alberta Committee for 31 years, including acting as chair. During this time, he held positions on the board of directors for three separate terms, including a two-year appointment as president.
Bob was instrumental in the restructuring of the PGAC, which led to the operational blueprint of the CPA: a new enhanced propane association, to be the single voice of the propane industry across Canada. At the start-up, Bob worked with the new CPA, representing the organization at provincial meetings in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba.
Bob was also an active participant in the restructuring of the LPG Emergency Response Corporation (now Emergency Response Assistance Canada), following a Transport Canada directive related to concerns with plan participants’ response capabilities during a rail transportation incident involving propane. Bob remained with the restructured LPGERC for four separate terms, including as board chairman for a three-year period.
He was active at the provincial government level for over 15 years, appointed to the Alberta Gas Safety Council when it was first established by Alberta Municipal Affairs. Valued for his expertise on issues related to regulatory, codes and compliance, Bob continues to be consulted by industry members and government personnel regarding on-going or developing issues and compliance trends in the propane industry.
Now semi-retired, Bob remains an active participant and valued mentor in the Canadian propane community, acting as an advisor, and attending CPA meetings, seminars, corporate social functions, among other activities. He is the current Chair of the Old Lamplighter, an industry group formed 50 years ago to provide opportunity for fellowship and visitation of propane personnel from across Canada.
Congratulations Bob!
