In response to the Ontario government’s announcement to simplify training requirements for drivers refuelling propane vehicles, CBC radio reached out to the CPA for comment on the amendments: Le gouvernement Ford veut attirer des constructeurs automobiles en Ontario (in French).
The government ruled that effective July 1, individuals who refuel propane-powered vehicles at two categories of facilities – private outlets and propane cardlock/keylock facilities – will be exempt from the requirement to hold a propane plant operator certificate or record of training under the regulation for that activity.
St-Pierre was also quoted in the government’s news release Ontario Cuts Red Tape, Supports Investment and Job Creation – Government removes regulatory roadblocks to drive prosperity in the auto sector: “The Canadian Propane Association is pleased to see the government moving swiftly to update outdated and costly regulations in our industry. The current requirements pose an undue burden on our members, and we welcome and encourage changes that bring common sense to our industry.”
