Due to the complications presented by COVID-19, the annual CPA BC Seminar and Golf Tournament scheduled for September 15 has been cancelled.
Long time organizer Willie Stephen of Maxquip, noted that the normal arrangements for the seminar, which is followed by the annual golf tournament, cannot be assured given the restrictions currently in place because of the pandemic.
“As we speak today, no gatherings of more than 10 people are allowed, said Mr. Stephen. “When we get to Phase 3, the maximum will be 50.”
The host golf course in Fort Langley is not offering dinner packages and no carts. Mr. Stephen also noted that the organizing committee is still dealing with travel restrictions for customers and suppliers, which will severely affect the numbers for this year’s event.
“We feel at this time that it would be prudent for us to cancel this year’s event because of all the issues that we are currently facing and others that could crop up between now and September," he said.
“In speaking with our CPA BC Committee Chair Clint Hillman and Vice-Chair Curtis Robinson, we feel that it is in the best interests of everyone that we cancel this year’s event due to safety issues and plan on making the 2021 CPA BC Seminar and Golf Tournament bigger and better than ever.”
