ATL: Atlantic Travel Bubble temporarily suspended

Prince Edward Island

Effective Tuesday, November 24, 2020, the Atlantic provinces have temporarily suspended the Atlantic Travel Bubble to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

Going forward, all travelers to Prince Edward Island, including residents of Atlantic Canada, will require pre-travel approval and need to have a 14-day self-isolation plan in place to enter the province. Island residents returning to P.E.I. do not need to apply for pre-travel approval to enter the province but will need to self-isolate or apply to work-isolate for 14-days.

Islanders who frequently travel within Atlantic Canada for work or Atlantic Canadians who frequently travel to P.E.I. to work, including rotational workers, will need to apply to work-isolate or register as a rotational worker.

Individuals who need to travel within Atlantic Canada for essential purposes (such as a medical appointment, transportation of goods, or picking up students at university) are not required to self-isolate if they return to P.E.I. within 24-hours.

Newfoundland and Labrador

As of Wednesday, November 24, 2020, all travellers from the Atlantic bubble arriving to N.L. will have to self-isolate for 14 days. Non-essential travel will not be permitted.

Nova Scotia

As of November 23, 2020, additional gathering limit restrictions and protective measures are in place for some Halifax and Hants County locations from November 23 to December 21, 2020:

• Gathering limits without social distancing - close social group can be formed of up to 5 people without social distancing; maintaining a consistent group is strongly encouraged
  • households can only have 5 visitors at a time
  • households with more than 5 members can only go outside the home in groups of up to 5 people
• Indoor gathering limit with social distancing for social events, spectators of sports and performing arts, organized physical activity, faith gatherings, weddings, funerals, arts and culture events, festivals and special events that are run by a recognized business or organization - 50% of the venue’s capacity up to 100 people maximum indoors
• Outdoor gathering limit with social distancing for social events, spectators of sports and performing arts, organized physical activity, faith gatherings, weddings, funerals, and special events that are run by a recognized business or organization - 150 people maximum outdoors
• Gathering limit with social distancing for social events, spectators of sports and performing arts, faith gatherings, weddings, funerals, and arts and culture events that are not run by a recognized business or organization (like a family event in the backyard) –
