NEW – PEI: Opportunities for the propane industry in clean technology and environment sectors

Following the Speech from the Throne, the province of PEI announced their budget for 2021-22 on March 12.

Opportunities for the propane industry are possible given the government’s investment in clean technology and environment sectors:

• $5.6 million to support and expand the heat pump rebate program through efficiency PEI;
• $500,000 to establish an electric vehicle rebate program; and
• $250,000 for a rural transit system pilot program beginning fall 2021.

Since the government has provided rebates for electric programs, the CPA will be pursuing the same opportunity for auto propane. The association will also continue working with the government to ensure propane is also considered in other investment programs.
