Successful CPA virtual/in-person events held this fall

Despite the evolving restrictions across Canada due to the pandemic, the CPA hosted a successful and safe in-person event, with 52 members attending the Alberta seminar that took place on September 10. The CPA also supported the B.C. seminar, with 45 members in attendance and 17 virtual participants, which also successfully took place on September 14.

Both seminars were a combination of virtual and in-person; members will likely continue to experience this hybrid model as it becomes the norm throughout 2022. All safety protocols related to covid-19 in each province were followed. Determining whether to have an in-person component to upcoming meetings will be decided on a case-by case basis in consultation with committee Chairs.

Alberta

Rob Barrow, Chair of the Alberta Committee, congratulates Bob Bush, MaXfield Consultant, on the announcement of his retirement at the Alberta Seminar.

The Alberta seminar, emceed by Rob Barrow, Chair of the Alberta Committee, opened with welcoming remarks by CPA Board of Directors Chair Nancy Borden. Emergency Response Assistance Canada’s President Spencer Buckland and Emergency Management Advisor Braden Stafford presented updates on environmental emergency plans. Always a perennial favourite, Sidney Manning, Chief Plumbing and Gas Administrator with Alberta Municipal Affairs, provided updates on provincial regulations affecting the propane industry. Both Borden and Manning presented virtually.

The event closed with keynote speaker, the Hon. Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Transportation with the Government of Alberta. Sawhney noted the special role propane can play in Alberta’s road to recovery and spent time after the session, connecting and speaking with participants.

The CPA would once again like to thank Alberta sponsors: Maxfield, Diversco, Maxquip, Cangas, Propar, Accu-Flo, Quality Steel, Total Control Systems, Superior Gas Liquids and BASE Engineering Inc. The event could not take place without their commitment and support!
