On October 31, the CPA met with the Minister of Economic Development, Investment and Trade, Cliff Cullen, and the deputy premier. The CPA presented the provincial home heating proposal to the minister, emphasizing the over 4,000 homes that rely on propane for heating across the province. Any government support for propane users, in light of high energy and inflation prices, would be helpful – as illustrated by the Government of Alberta’s Natural Gas Rebate program.
The CPA also raised the issue of emissions generated from transportation and agricultural sectors across Manitoba and encouraged the minister to incentivize fuel switching from diesel to propane to immediately reduce emissions. The CPA looks forward to furthering engagement with the province on policy and regulatory issues affecting propane in Manitoba.
