CPA making headlines on call to make HST and GST zero-rated for residential energy
Media have reacted to the CPA’s press release issued on September 6 – CPA: Feds must work to ensure affordable home heating.
 
Advocacy at its best: Propane users question government decision to not include propane in home heating program
As we have been hearing at CPA seminars held across Canada, propane users are the best advocates as we work to effect change in government policy.
 
CPA advocates against federal oil and gas emissions cap proposal
In July, the federal government released a discussion paper on Option to Cap and Cut Oil and Gas Sector Greenhouse Gas Emissions to Achieve 2030 Goals and Net-Zero by 2050. Formal consultation closed on September 30; Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) will communicate decisions on the plan in early 2023.

CN says 2022-23 Winter Plan creates more robust and resilient rail transportation for propane sector
CN recently published its 2022-2023 winter plan with specific references to propane service. The CPA has consistently engaged with Class 1 rail carriers and the federal government to identify opportunities to create more robust and resilient rail transportation for the propane sector, specifically during the winter months when millions of Canadians rely on propane to heat their homes and cook their food. 
 
CPA pre-budget submission to House of Commons Finance Committee
On October 8, the CPA filed its recommendations for the upcoming federal budget with the House of Commons Finance Committee.
 
CPA calling on Atlantic Canada to follow Alberta's example of home energy rebates
In addition to meetings in July with NL Minister of Natural Resources Allan Parsons, the CPA met most recently in early October with government officials in New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia.

Upcoming Clean Fuel Regulations webinars
Environment and Climate Change Canada will be hosting a series of webinars from October to December regarding fuel model calculations for the Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR).
