Continuing the priority of external-facing advocacy, the CPA was in Prince George, B.C. for the annual Natural Resources Summit in January 2023. This annual event brings together key stakeholders from across the province including Premier Eby, members of the NDP caucus, Opposition leader Kevin Falcon and members from his caucus, Indigenous leaders, mayors and city councillors from Northern B.C.

On February 10, the CPA filed its submission for the 2023 Ontario budget. The CPA advocated that the government must recognize all energy needs of the province and that not all areas are equally positioned, in the short term at least, to take advantage of a greener economy.

Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) released a series of reports at the end of January on its long-term outlook to meet future demand while working to decarbonize the electricity grid.

On January 31, CPA members and staff met with met with Nova Scotia officials from the departments of natural resources, climate change, and the environment to discuss the critical role a propane retrofit program could play in the province’s goal of reducing GHGs and making home energy more affordable.

Arctic Energy & Resource Symposium - The Canadian Institute
