On November 16, The Hill Times published a letter to the editor written by the Canadian Propane Association, "Propane industry says it's committed to sustainable energy." The letter encourages all parties to appreciate already well-established energy solutions, and promotes the importance of considering the energy sector's economic contributions when developing policies related to the environment.

On November 4, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and 30 members of Cabinet were officially sworn to office. Significant appointments for the CPA include the Hon. James Carr, Minister of Natural Resources from Manitoba, the Hon. Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change from Ontario, the Hon. Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities from Alberta, and the Hon. Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport from Quebec. A full list of Cabinet member biographies can be found here.
The Liberal government is making clean energy a priority, and the CPA looks forward to promoting propane’s place in Canada’s sustainable energy mix through its tiny carbon footprint and high efficiency.

Hydro-Québec is now offering financial assistance to residents of Îles-de-la-Madeleine that switch from electricity to propane, enabling islanders to significantly cut their heating costs.

The regulatory authority responsible for the storage and handling of propane in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Engineering & Inspections division of Service NL, is trying to determine if it is necessary to adopt the CPA’s recommended implementation periods for the new pressure relief valve (PRV) servicing requirements.

The Canadian Propane Association is proud to offer an annual awards program that recognizes exceptional accomplishments in the propane industry and inspires the next generation of industry professionals.
Three awards are available through the program:

- CPA Student Scholarship Award

Since November 2014, CSA Group has hosted an online platform that increases accessibility to CSA Group Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) standards. This initiative was developed in collaboration with Transport Canada’s TDG Directorate and allows registered users free access to CSA Group TDG standards referenced in federal legislation.
Registered users are also able to see the full content through CSA Group’s online Communities of Interest (COI) platform. The COI platform also provides a forum where users can ask questions and participate in discussions on standards-related issues. The COI platform contains links to CSA Group’s online store where users can purchase the standards.
