From January 25 to 29, CPA's Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, Mélanie Levac, attended the Cooperative Hazardous Materials Enforcement Development (COHMED) conference in San Antonio, Texas. During the conference, Mélanie was elected Industry Liaison, a member of COHMED’s Leadership, for a two-year term and Donna MacLean, Transport Canada's Chief of Inspector Education and Public Awareness, became the Chair.

On February 2, Allan Murphy, CPA’s Senior Director of Public Affairs and Policy, attended the 2016 Canadian Energy Industry Updates and Insights event in Ottawa.
The event, hosted by the Energy Council of Canada, attracted an audience of over 180 including Members of Parliament, senior elected officials, a large contingent from the diplomatic community including 15 Ambassadors/High Commissioners, and strong representation from the Energy Council’s membership. This year’s event focused on energy supply issues, from generation and production, through transmission and pipelines and distribution, energy storage and HR developments and issues. Emergency Response Assistance Canada (ERAC) is currently working on a project to develop more ERAC-owned equipment caches that will be strategically placed across Canada and would be able to be transported to any incident or training facility when needed.
ERAC is reaching out to industry to request the donation of or discounted pricing on any unwanted or surplus equipment to assist with the ongoing development of their equipment caches.
