Print this Article

On September 27, Technical Safety BC issued the following Directives:

  • Gas Appliance Approvals
Technical Safety BC’s (TSBC) Gas Technology Program provides a program for approval of regulated gas appliances as authorized by the Safety Standards Act and Gas Safety Regulation. Appliance designs can be submitted to the Administrator of Gas Equipment Approvals for review and registration, and subsequent field approval assessment by a gas safety officer for conformance to the registered design and referenced codes and/or standards. Upon successful completion of the product approval assessment, a TSBC gas appliance approval label is affixed to the appliance. The approval is site specific, and is valid only in the province of British Columbia under jurisdictional areas of the Safety Standards Act.
  • Mobile Outdoor Food Service Unit Gas Approval Requirements
This Directive details TSBC gas approval/certification requirements for Mobile Outdoor Food Service Units with walls on all four sides and a permanent roof – constructed, imported, or operated – in British Columbia.
  • Requirements for Connection of Fuel Supply to Mobile Units Manufactured Housing and Recreational Vehicles
This Directive clarifies permitting and qualification requirements for gas supply connections to mobile housing units and recreational vehicles as defined in the CSA B149.1 and B149.2 Codes.
