New Equivalency Certificate - SU 12435

Print this Article

At the request of the Canadian Propane Association (CPA), Transport Canada has issued Equivalency Certificate SU 12435.

This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the members of the CPA to transport propane or liquefied petroleum gas in a TC331 tank for which the inspection and test intervals were increased from a five-year requalification period to a ten-year period. These requirements were accepted by the CSA B620 Technical Committee in June 2017 and should be adopted in the upcoming CSA Standard B620-19, Highway tanks and TC portable tanks for the transportation of dangerous goods, published by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).

The terms and conditions in the certificate must be adhered to at all times. Subsection 31(4) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act, 1992 stipulates that non-compliance with any of the terms or conditions invalidates the certificate. In addition, subsection 31(6) of the same act gives the Minister, or a designated person, the authority to revoke the certificate. All other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations must be complied with except for those specified in the certificate.

All CPA equivalency certificates are available on the CPA website.
