Print this Article

The Canadian Propane Association (CPA) BC Committee met on December 5 at the Best Western Plus in Coquitlam, BC.

In her first Committee Chair Report, Nancy Borden highlighted the success of the BC Seminar and golf tournament that took place in September. She also touched on the executive meeting held with Dan Kelly, CPA Board Chair, and Nathalie St-Pierre, CPA President and CEO, during which past challenges and future opportunities to strengthen the relationship between the association and the committee were addressed.

Borden discussed the challenges members face with local permit requirements (fees and inspectors), as well as the importance of equivalency certificates, reminding members that all certificate terms and conditions must be adhered to at all times.

She also noted CPA's efforts in streamlining communications to members and encouraged committee members to sign up for the CPA's weekly Regulatory Affairs newsletter. It was also suggested that the Propane Training Institute (PTI) provide more online training content and consider offering training in the field. Borden also discussed the current need for Board succession.

CPA's new Director of Government Relations, West, Darren Cunningham provided updates on the most recent Codes and Standards Committee and Transportation Committee meetings and PTI activities.

The BC Auto Propane Committee briefed members on the European push nozzle, which could further advance the uptake of auto propane, and the BC Low Carbon Fuels Compliance Pathway Assessment.
