On May 30, Nathalie St-Pierre, CPA President and CEO, and Hando Kang, Regional Director, Ontario, met with newly appointed Technical Safety and Standards Authority (TSSA) President and CEO, Bonnie Rose. Bonnie started in her new role on April 4, 2018.

Nathalie and Hando provided a high-level overview of the association and its 122 Ontario members. In their messaging, they stated that the CPA:

  • supports the TSSA’s objective to streamline the Code Adoption process and increase harmonization with other provincial jurisdictions,
  • believes that all fuels should be allowed to compete on an equal footing and regulations should not favour some energy options over others (e.g., self-fill of propane vehicles), and
  • requires timely approval of Canadian Propane Association / Propane Training Institute courses to support training and skills development.

The CPA also discussed variances for cylinder requalification, online training, and other key items from the Propane Advisory Council and the Risk Reduction Group. Both organizations look forward to future collaboration.
