Equivalency Certificate SU 12435 renewed
Transport Canada has renewed Equivalency Certificate SU 12435 (Renewal 2). The previous certificate is hereby revoked and superseded by the new one, which is available on the CPA website.
This Equivalency Certificate authorizes the members of the Canadian Propane Association and any person on behalf of its members to transport UN1978 propane or UN1075 liquefied petroleum gas in a TC 331 or MC 331 highway tank for which the inspection and test intervals were increased from a five-year requalification period to a ten-year period. These requirements were accepted by the CSA B620 Technical Committee in June 2017 and should be adopted in the next CSA B620 Standard that should be published in 2019 or 2020.

Amendment: For clarity, condition (g) was amended to: The highway tank is durably and legibly marked with “SU 12435” in characters that are not less than 32 mm (1-1/4 in) high. The marking shall be placed next to the test or inspection marking required by Clause 7.4 of CSA B620.
Note: The conditions listed in the equivalency certificate must be adhered to at all times. Subsection 31(4) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act, 1992 stipulates that non-compliance with any of the terms or conditions invalidates the certificate. Also, subsection 31(6) of the TDG Act, 1992 gives the Minister, or a designated person, the authority to revoke the certificate. Finally, all other requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations must be complied with, unless they are specifically listed in the certificate.
