NEW! Navien recalls propane conversion kit for condensing tankless water heater and combination boiler

Print this Article

Navien Inc. has identified a non-conforming specification in the natural gas to propane gas conversion kit that is supplied as an accessory with each unit. If the kit is installed to use propane rather than natural gas to fuel the unit and is not properly vented, it could pose a risk of exposure to carbon monoxide. The products subject to the recall were manufactured between July 9, 2018 through October 14, 2018.

As of November 5, 2018, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.

Consumers should immediately contact Navien for a replacement conversion kit to be installed. In the meantime, the consumer may continue to use the product until the repair has been made if the water heater or boiler has been converted to use propane and the product is properly vented to the outdoors. If there are any concerns about the integrity of the vent system or if the consumer is unsure whether the unit is properly vented, the consumer must immediately discontinue using the product until the replacement conversion kit is installed and ensure that a properly installed and functioning carbon monoxide detector is present.

For more information, consumers may contact Navien toll free by telephone at 1-800-244-8202 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST or by email.
